In February, 2009, the NCTE Executive Committee voted on whether or not to award this status.

On March 24, 2009, Millie Davis, Division Director, Communications and Affiliate Services at NCTE contacted us to officially inform us that we had been granted Assembly status!

We look forward to hearing from you, working with you, and supporting your needs! Please come back to this site for updates regarding the status of the proposed assembly.

Vivian Vasquez
ECEA Chair

Board of Directors

ECEA Board of Directors
2009-2011

Chair
Vivian Vasquez (2008-2011)
American University, Washington DC
vvasque@american.edu
www.vivianvasquez.com
www.clippodcast.com

Assistant Chair
Mariana Souto-Manning (2008-2011)
Teachers College - Teachers of young children are asked to teach-to-the-test in ways that take away opportunities for holistic, thoughtful, play-oriented practices that allow children to construct knowledge through contextualized and purposeful experiences.

The Early Childhood Assembly provides a new home at NCTE for all who work with young children.

We look forward to supporting teachers of young children with a strong emphasis on promoting thoughtful practices that enhance the teaching and learning of young children within and across diverse communities.

Vivian Vasquez
ECEA Chair
